Did you know that coral reefs are sometimes called the 'rainforests of the sea'? They are incredibly diverse ecosystems, home to a quarter of all marine species, even though they cover less than one percent of the ocean floor!

2. 2🖍️ Shimmering Scales - For the merfolk's tails, try layering metallic crayons or glitter pens over your base colors to give their scales a magical, shimmering effect as they ascend.
3. 3✨ Underwater Glow - Think about the light filtering through the water. Use lighter, brighter colors near the top of the page for the ocean surface, gradually transitioning to deeper, richer blues and purples as you go deeper into the reef.
